These small sherds are fragments of Rockport Black-on-Gray pottery from the Guadalupe Bay site. 41CL2 is the official trinomial number for the site, followed by the lot (inventory) number 70, which permanently identify where the sherds come from. Archeological investigations of the Guadalupe Bay site recovered a total of 42,712 pottery sherds, among the largest prehistoric ceramic assemblages ever studied in Texas.
