Selection of metal and ceramic artifacts thought to date to the 18th or early 19th centuries and likely associated with a late, mission-era aboriginal occupation (Live Oak phase) of the site. The metal artifacts include black-powder lead ball shot (upper left), a longarm flintlock hammer, a flintlock sear spring (center and upper right), hand-wrought nails, and a large hand-wrought and hand-threaded bolt. The piece of coarse earthenware with the dark reddish brown lead glaze dates to the 18th century and is likely of French manufacture. Below this is a fragment of a transitional creamware chamber pot dating to the late 18th or early 19th century. Photo by Richard Weinstein. |
