In 1996 two tribal members of the Tunica-Biloxi Nation took part in the excavation and documentation of one of the large tree stumps felled by the tornado. In this photo Earl Barby Jr. and Brent Barby record the stratigraphic profile of the hole ripped out by the falling tree. The archeological training the Barby brothers received at Los Adaes helps contribute to improved understandings between Native Americans and archeologists. Photo by George Avery.
