Colonial tin-enameled pottery made in what is now Mexico is called majolica by archeologists, and talavera by art historians in Mexico. Archeologists have described numerous types of majolicaãthe three fragments to the left are called Puebla Polychrome and date from 1650 to 1725. This type of pottery is very useful for identifying archeological deposits dating to the very early years at Los Adaes. The two sherds to the right are San Augustine Blue on White and date from 1700 to 1750. Tin-enameled pottery is still being made today in Mexico.
