Small pointed twigs, wrapped with cording, were thought by some investigators to be hair ornaments. One such twig bundle, however, was found attached to a spear (now housed in the Smithsonian Institution) and perhaps was intended for symbolic purpose. A more practical interpretation, based on ethnographic accounts, is use as a tool for spearing fruits on cholla cactus plants. TARL Collections.
