Hand-colored drawing of painted adobe plaster from House 3 at Polvo that appears in Shackelford 1951, Plate IX. Fragments of painted plaster from this house in the TARL Collections appear less vividly colored, but Shackelford witnessed the plaster as it was exposed in the field and his depiction is probably quite accurate. The polychrome plaster from this site is unique among La Junta houses, but painted and plastered house interiors are known from elsewhere in the American Southwest. |
