| View from the west of the “mesa” or mountain pediment upon which the Loma Alta site is situated. The pediment forms a finger-like protrusion into the Rio Grande valley, offering an ideal village location overlooking the low flat floodplain, yet safely above flood level. Kelley also found evidence of a second Concepcion phase village on the much lower, slightly raised terrace visible in the foreground. Photo probably taken by Kelley in the late 1930s.
