Excavations in progress on the site's Darl component, a Transitional Archaic encampment. Archeologists "pedestalled" (dug around) the artifacts, leaving them in place to be mapped and documented. The investigations focused not only on recovering artifacts but also their location and distribution in relation to features, such as hearths. These spatial patterns are often more significant than the individual artifacts themselves, as they can reveal human behavior, such as planning, logistics, and tradition. . |
