Image of engraved whooping crane.
Three views of engraved whooping crane ulna whistle found in Feature 82, showing the position of an asphaltum plug. Similar plugs were found just under the air holes of several whistles and likely served to constrict and direct the flow of air, thus "shaping" the resulting sound.
