| This unusual sherd of coarse earthenware has an inscribed design of an arrow piercing an animal. Although the design suggests a Native derivation, its technology—lead glazing on the interior and exterior—indicates otherwise, although it could have been made by an native potter in a mission context. Analyst Kathleen Gilmore found similar pottery from the fortress of Louisbourg, suggesting it may have been French. |
