| Examples of pressed glass. Sherds on top row are from a "Lacy glass" vessel, one of the earliest types of pressed glass. It was in production in 1829 and for only a few decades subsequently. The sherd at top right appears to have been deliberately flaked along the edge to create a spokeshave, a smoothing tool for wooden objects such as spokes or arrowshafts. |
