This 1950 article by Virginia Watson on the Stamper site in the Oklahoma Panhandle was the first substantial publication on the site. Watson concluded that enough differences existed between Stamper and Krieger’s Antelope Creek focus to warrant a new cultural unit which she named the Optima focus. Today, the Optima focus is no longer seen as a valid concept and the Stamper site is thought to be closely related to, if not part of, the Antelope Creek culture.
