Toyah campers deposited their trash in piles, as evidenced in this feature composed of burned rock, chipped stone, pottery sherds, and mussel shell. Based on this type of information, we can surmise they stayed at the site for sufficiently long periods to warrant this sort of clean-up activity. The photo at bottom shows the feature after it was cross-sectioned to determine depth and internal characteristics, such as a basin or pit (not present).
