The Haas House/Community in the Hills webpage was written by TBH Co-Editor Susan Dial (see About TBH), based on a 7,000-acre survey and master's thesis study of the Upper Barton Creek Watershed.
At present there are few overviews concerning settlement west of Austin. A great deal of primary information is available at the Austin History Center (http://library.austintexas.gov/ahc/about-us) and the Briscoe Center for American History (www.cah.utexas.edu/). The Handbook of Texas Online is an excellent listing of resources on Texas history ( www.tshaonline.org).
Many of the sources listed below are out of print but are available at the Austin Public Library, Austin History Center, or the Briscoe Center for American History.
